Not a good fit for a T61
By Sicon
Ordered this to replace the fan in a Lenovo T61 laptop. The replacement did not fit properly. While it was the correct size, the flanges and slots (where the clips that hold it in place are supposed to be crimped down on it), did not line up. As a result, it was impossible to get the fan to sit in the housing correctly, and the fan could not spin because it was rubbing against the bottom of the housing.

Bottom line is that this fan unit was by no means an exact reproduction of the original fan in the laptop. Not really even close. Not good. Not useable.

works, but needs a little finessing
By Patrick
This fan fits in a Lenovo T61 laptop, but it does need a little finessing. When installed as is, the fan rubs against the heat sink. This is easily fixable by tweaking the fan's housing.

To determine if you have this issue, completely install the fan in the heat sink, and mount the heat sink in the laptop (screw it in all the way), then try spinning the fan with your fingers. If the fan rubs against the heat sink as it spins, just take a small screw driver, stick it straight down between the blades of the fan and push down on the fan's aluminum housing. This should move the fan down just enough so it doesnt rub any more.

On my laptop in which I've done this, the fan is currently running full speed (I've got the CPU at 100%) and its not making any noise beyond the normal flow of air.

Note: Another reviewer said the tabs/flanges/clips/whatevers dont line up and so the fan doesnt fit. One (of 4) was just a little off position, but it was still able to hold the fan in place without any issues.

The Fan doesn't match
By AndyInKeller
This fan is not the same as the fan in my Lenovo T61 Thinkpad. The numbers all match up, but the new fan is bigger and the electrical connections are different.
